Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need therapy?

The need for therapy varies from person to person. We all experience things differently, perceive situations differently, and have different pasts. Generally, if you feel like something is getting in the way of living your “normal” life, therapy is a great option. If you have been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, apathetic towards life, have trouble with relationships, or have experienced trauma, therapy can provide education and tools to work through and resolve those issues.

If you have been going back and forth about whether or not to try therapy, we recommend going for it!

How long will I be in therapy?

Everybody has different circumstances, needs, and desired outcomes from their sessions. Together with your therapist, you will discuss goals for treatment, how progress will be measured, and how long it may take to get there.

What does a telehealth session look like?

Our teletherapy sessions are hosted through a HIPAA-compliant video platform. Before each session, you will receive an email link to access your upcoming appointment. Patients most often attend sessions by using a computer or smartphone.

Is online therapy suitable for me?

Research has shown that between virtual therapy and in-person therapy, there is no difference in patient satisfaction. What matters most is the consistency of attending therapy sessions, which teletherapy makes easy to do. Online therapy is suitable for addressing most mental health concerns. Teletherapy is a great option if you have a busy schedule, struggle to find childcare, feel more comfortable opening up in a familiar environment like your home, you need the convenience of being able to meet anywhere, or if you live in an area with limited services.

Online therapy is not suitable for those who have recently been discharged from in-patient treatment, those who are actively suicidal or have a serious history of suicidal behavior, those who experience severe disassociation, and those who need crisis treatment.

Do you provide in-person treatment?

Everyday Change Counseling solely provides telehealth services for individuals living in the state of Utah. Teletherapy still allows our therapists to create a wonderful connection with clients, the interventions are just as effective, and sessions more conveniently fit into your day.

What is the cancellation policy?

You must cancel with your therapist or our office within 24 hours of your session time, or you may be charged the full session rate of $135. Canceling with adequate time allows us to offer the time slot to someone else who may want it. We always respect your time and ask the same in return. We appreciate your understanding.
